Phone Calling Feature Success in First 24 Hours - Gmail Users Make One Million Calls in 24 Hours its looks like Gmail users are already taking advantage of the cheap calling that Google launched yesterday. According to Google, there were over one million phone calls placed from Gmail in the first 24 hours after the service went live.

Google said Thursday via Twitter. “Over 1,000,000 calls placed from Gmail in just 24 hours! Thanks to everyone using this new feature,” said Google in a tweet.

This Gmail Phone Calling Feature is particularly attractive if you’re contacting someone in the US or Canada, because those calls are completely free. Google says it’s subsidizing those calls through its international rates, but those are pretty low too you can call many countries for just two cents a minute.

Now you can call a number of countries through Gmail Phone Calling Feature including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Argentina, China, and Japan, for as low as two cents per minute. The rates however seem to vary from country to country.
